This 6-day expedition takes guests from Mwitongo Lodges to the untouched wilderness of Rubondo Island National Park on Lake Victoria. The itinerary combines rare chimpanzee trekking, birdwatching, freshwater fishing, and scenic forest hikes with optional cultural experiences at Mwitongo Lodges. Ideal for adventurous travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path wildlife encounters alongside the comforts of lakeside accommodations.
Day 1 - Arrival in Mwanza - Transfer to Mwitongo Lodges (D)
- Arrive at Mwanza Airport; meet Mwitongo Safaris representative.
- Scenic drive to Mwitongo Butiama Lodge.
- Afternoon: orientation and optional archery or short hike around lodge grounds.
- Evening: dinner at the lodge; rest for early departure to Rubondo Island.
- Accommodation: Mwitongo Butiama Lodge
Day 2 - Transfer to Rubondo Island & Afternoon Forest Walk (B, L, D)
- Early breakfast at lodge.
- Drive to Rubondo Island ferry terminal.
- Boat transfer to Rubondo Island National Park.
- Arrival and check-in at island lodge.
- Afternoon guided forest walk, spotting monkeys, birds, and small wildlife.
