This 4-day safari departs from Mwanza and uses Mwitongo Lodge (Butiama/Musoma) as your warm cultural starting point before immersing you in the world-famous Serengeti. You will explore the rich wildlife of the Western Corridor, known for the Grumeti River ecosystem, massive herds during the migration season, big cats, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, and an abundance of plains game.
Ideal for travellers seeking a short yet powerful Big Five safari with comfortable road access from Mwanza.
Day 1 - Arrival in Mwanza, Transfer to Mwitongo & Cultural Welcome (D)
- Arrival at Mwanza Airport: meet & greet by Mwitongo Safaris representative.
- Scenic road transfer to Mwitongo Butiama Lodge (or Mwitongo Peninsula Lodge).
- Check-in, welcome drink, relaxation.
- Optional light activity depending on arrival time:
- Archery session
- Short lodge walk
- Market visit in Butiama or Musoma
- Dinner at the lodge.
- Overnight at Mwitongo Lodge.
Day 2 - Enter Serengeti via Ndabaka Gate & Western Corridor Game Drive (B, L, D)
- Early breakfast.
- Drive from Mwitongo to Ndabaka Gate (closest route into Serengeti).
- Begin game drive immediately inside the park.
- Travel through the Western Corridor, following the seasonal movement of wildlife.
- Chances to see:
- Giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hippos
- Lions & cheetahs
- Wildebeest herds (May - July)
- Crocodiles at the Grumeti River
- Picnic lunch at a designated site.
- Continue with afternoon game drive toward your safari lodge/camp.
- Arrive at camp for sunset, freshen up, dinner.
- Overnight in Western Corridor safari lodge/tented camp.
Day 3 - Full Day Serengeti Big Five Safari (B, L, D)
- Optional early morning coffee/tea.
- Sunrise game drive, best time to spot predators-especially lions and leopards.
- Return to camp for breakfast OR enjoy a bush breakfast (depending on package).
- Mid-morning game drive along the riverine tracks of the Grumeti, home to huge crocodiles and excellent birdlife.
- Lunch: picnic lunch under acacia trees or hot lunch at camp.
- Continue with afternoon game drive:
- Elephant families
- Hyenas
- Topis, hartebeest, and other plains game
- Sunset return to camp.
- Dinner & overnight at the same lodge/camp.
Day 4 - Final Game Drive, Exit Serengeti & Departure from Mwanza (B, L)
- Early morning game drive en route to Ndabaka Gate-one last opportunity to spot wildlife.
- Exit Serengeti and begin drive back toward Mwanza.
- Picnic or warm lunch depending on timing.
- Drop-off at Mwanza Airport for your onward flight.
- End of services.
- Meet & greet + transfers to/from Mwanza Airport
- 1 night accommodation at Mwitongo Lodge (FB or HB depending on arrival time)
- 2 nights accommodation in Serengeti safari lodge or tented camp
- All meals as indicated: B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner
- All park fees, concession fees, and government taxes
- Professional driver-guide (English speaking)
- Fully equipped 4x4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof
- Bottled drinking water on all game drives
